Kay Yu Zhou earned a bachelor’s degree from Peking University and a master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to entering legal practice, she served for eight years as the statutory representative of a Grade III Class A hospital in China and led a team in designing and implementing more than ten information systems and data-driven digital transformation projects for major hospital groups and government authorities.
Ms. Zhou is currently a lawyer with Beijing Handing United Law Firm. Her team focus primarily on the compliant development and commercialization of data assets, as well as cross-border civil and commercial dispute resolution.
Representative Cases:
1, Represented a Chinese technology company in negotiations with an overseas counterparty concerning a cross-border low-altitude aviation technology cooperation project. Advised on the cooperation structure, allocation of rights and obligations, performance mechanisms and risk allocation, helping translate the technical proposal into a clear and workable cross-border arrangement.
2, Advised a Chinese data company on the compliant development and commercialization of data assets. Reviewed data provenance, the scope of authorization and data-processing rules; assisted the client in developing data assets capable of being properly identified, measured and reviewed; and facilitated the completion of related transactions.
3, Represented a foreign-invested enterprise in retrial proceedings before a provincial High People’s Court. The case resulted in a favorable revised judgment, safeguarding the client’s lawful rights and interests in a complex multiparty transaction.
